Wayne signed for Ponteland as Professional for the 2010 season from Chester-Le-Street in the North East Premier League.

Has been with First Class Counties Durham and Essex as well as appearing regularly for Northumberland, with a career best of 235 for Essex against Worcestershire 2XI.

In the fixture on 27th June against Ryton Wayne broke the club record for the highest individual score with an unbeaten 180 off 175 deliveries. The 24 fours was a record for a single innings and the partnership of 258 with Matt Darwood was also the highest for any wicket for the 1XI and the club.
