Australian Player, visiting England in 1990 with Steve Dignam, returned for the 1991 season, when he set a then league record of 1,060 runs in a league season, a season where he scored 2 centuries and reached 90 a further 4 times (and again in a 20 over cup match). He won the Stan Seymour League Batsman award for that season.

In 1991 between the 11th May and the 25th May over 3 consecutive league games Brett and Andy Morgan registered partnerships of 214*, 111* and 63, a total of 388 runs before either player was dismissed. In a 1XI Cup match during the same period they also had a further partnership of 23* making it 413 runs in all games before there partnerships were broken.
