Mike Barlow's 6-33 and 69* Vs Whitley Bay

Mike Barlow was awarded the Jameson Cup for the year 2000. The chairman and those present were aware of his batting career but unsure of his bowling history. Since the war there have been 4 occasions when a single player has taken 5 wickets and scored 50 runs in the same match (that we are aware of) for the 1st XI, one was the Australian Luke Stewart in 1994 (102 & 6-19 vs Monkseaton) Lloyd Anderson with 79 & 5-21 against Percy Main Away 2004 the other two were both by Mike, in 1974 (below) and 1975 (51* & 5-52 vs County Club).

Ponteland Vs Whitley Bay, 3rd August 1974, at Castle Ward Sports Centre. League match, the weather was described as fine. Whitley Bay won toss.
