John Hancock
Biography 
John Hancock (known to many as 'The Major') joined the Club in 1977, taking 29 wickets and taking part in 2 century partnerships during that season. Scored an unbeaten 54 against Tynedale on his debut. Was part of the Committee assigned to prepare for the Club Centenary in 1980. As a member of the M.C.C was instrumental in arranging for their 4 visits to play Ponteland sides. (He can also be seen on the Botham's Ashes 1981 Video as Botham walks off after his pair at Lords)

Recieved the Jameson Trophy for Services to the Club in 1979 and the Bowyer Memorial Trophy for 2XI Performance of the Season in 1981 after his century against Kirkley. After the retirement of Tom Barlow, John became Chairman of the Club in 1984, holding the post until he stood down in 1995.
